The Throstles defied a 7lb rise as well as a step up in class to make it 2 out of 2 at Wolverhampton this year with a 4 and 1/2 length victory on Friday afternoon. The Kevin Frost trained gelding was sent off at 3/1 under apprentice jockey Rossa Ryan and got himself in a handy position just behind the leader Admiral Spice in the early stages, stalking his opponent until 2 furlongs out where Rossa pulled him out and the horse showed a great turn of foot, putting the race to bed in a matter of strides to win comfortably, achieving back to back success over course and distance.
A great day was had by all of the 15 owners in attendance, and a particularly good day for Mr & Mrs Frost who saddled an across the card double, with Poppy Jag winning at Nottingham at 16/1.
